சார் லட்டுடுடுடு.....

இருந்தாலும் ரொம்ப சீன் போடுறாங்கப்பா. Ok I admit it is the best and I am one of the millions who often yearn for it but does that mean a religious establishment patent its prasadam like a business entity. Clearly shows where the TTD is heading to nowadays and where its priorities like notwithstanding the lakhs who make a beeline to the temple and dump their wallet, suitcase and manja pai contents into the hundi.
On this line though what are the other products for which one could file a Geographical Indication patent? First and foremost ofcourse is Thiruneveli Halwa (Yumm. Seriously there is nothing else that equals the sensation of it sliding down the throat after stretching the taste buds). Then we have Pazhani Panchamirtham, Puliyodharai (now, there are so many temples that can lay claim to this one), Oothukuli Vennai, Beach Sundal (Marina?), Anjaneyar Kovil Vadai (again many temples will lay claim), etc.
I say, I must get one for Mambalam Mani as well!

matter'a alasi aaraayaama sound vidapdaadhu....

many places in Andhra and a few places in TN are selling laddus in the name of Tirupathi laddu, and people were buying as if it was a prasadam. now with this patent only TTD can sell them. Same must be done for Pazhani Panchamrudham and Sabarimalai Aravanaipayasam to stop duplicates.

but aside... TTD's current officials sila-palarukku kalthaa seri-illai... :P

Krishna sweets sells 'Tirupati Laddu' and 'Kurkure' - They are obviously trying to cash in on the popularity of these items.

btw Mambalam Iyer-nnu products vikkaranga - adu neengala?

@Asuri: Elaam theriyumada. But why should it matter to TTD? Unless you are a commercial establishment worrying about others cashing in on your name why would they bother? It is like Lalit Modi saying ICL is not a recognized and illegal even though anybody can play cricket. Reminds me of Kapil Dev's quote "Cricket is like a biscuit. Anybody can make them" :D

Blogeswari: The only thing I thought Krishna Sweets ever made was their gooey Mysore paaku :D Mambalam Iyer nu what products? Enakum adhukum sambandham ileengo!

Don't forget Prof. Geethaguru's lecture. Patent is not for commercial interest; it is to establish identity.
